Different court sizes, site features and sports, require different fences and court edge treatments. Several Rules Of Thumb are used in determining exact designs:
- If your site is flat and wide open, fence may not be required. Always use as little fence as possible.
- If your site is hilly or if you are trying to contain hockey balls, etc. some backstop and or ball control fencing may be desirable.
- Always provide suitable "Run-Out" space. Extra paved court space or at least level surfaces adjacent to the court, will provide necessary additional space for safe play.
